This site is more than the newsstand version of Time. It contains a daily version of the magazine, as well as the full text of the current week's issue. They also have put together pages with links to sites that cover such areas as national affairs, world affairs, health and medicine, as well as providing access to the Time Universe. Time Universe takes you to Time Inc's home page, and accesses their other Web services, which include People and Sports Illustrated, neither of which approach TIME World Wide in usefulness and sophistication.
A bulletin board service is also available. It is forms-based; current topics include a direct line to the creators of TIME World Wide for providing feedback, Election '94, international politics, American health & medicine, the great Gender Divide and Arts & Culture. Posting to the bulletin boards is a simple matter of filling out the form they provide. You can also read previous postings.
One particularly nice feature, called the Voters' Guide, allows you to track how your legislators voted on particular bills. A form allows you to type in your zip code, then a list with the available bills and how your legislators voted appears. The search is very fast; I received my results in less than 30 seconds. Finding it can be tricky, though. Select This Week's Time, then go down the page to find it.
Time Daily gives one paragraph synopses of breaking stories; clicking on a button will take you to related stories. The weekly issue has full text articles in html format, as well as back issues (from January 1995) and graphics of their covers. A forms-capable browser is needed to take advantage of all the site's features.
The opening graphics are quite large (an image map of the site), so it might be a good idea to turn off the auto load image option before accessing the page. While the graphics are very nice, they are not critical to navigating around the pages, as text-based navigation is available.
