The White House Web Page has greatly improved since Infofilter first reviewed it last year. More pages have been created, more chances to e-mail the President, the Vice-President and the developers of the page, which give the pages more of a feel of interactivity.
As an added bonus, this site now is an excellent starting point for government information. There are numerous links to other information, agencies and projects such as INS, OSHA, the National Park Service, Passport Services, the National Performance Review, IRS and many others. There are also links to other branches of government, which provides users with another path to legislative information.
The First Lady and Tipper Gore, also, now have their own pages, which give a good picture of their lives and interests. Both pages include biographies. Mrs. Gore's page is modest, but gives viewers a good picture of her role now, and her past accomplishments. Mrs. Clinton's page is more elaborate, has lots of images and numerous links to her speeches and other relevant sites. There is also information about her policy work on health care. This area of the site is extremely well done and gives citizens insight into these two powerful women in a way that has never been done before.
A link specially designed for kids is new and is not patronizing. Information in this area is disseminated in a colorful newsletter format, which encourages kids to come back for more. Some information is interesting for adults, too, because complex issues, such as the budget deficit, are explained clearly. Despite the clear explanation, they are done in plain English rather than unsuitably simple terms.
