Singing for change, and cures
With Sheryl Crow on hand, USC's "Changing Lives and Creating Cures" gala honored Arizona Diamondbacks CEO Derrick Hall, cancer survivor and advocate.
When Kicks for Kids is planning the day, disabilities don't matter. The organization pairs USC volunteers with children who have physical or developmental challenges for a day full of soccer, snacks and smiles at McCarthy Quad on the University Park Campus.
The award will help the department expand the LAPD Cadet Leadership Program, its signature community youth program with 6,000 active members age 13 to 20. The program is offered at each of the LAPD's 21 community police stations and includes a cadet post at USC.
Thanks to the Joint Educational Project's Young Scientists Program, elementary students near the USC University Park campus got hands-on experience with the challenges astronauts face while on a mission, from keeping in shape to setting a table.
